INTERNATIONAL FUR FEDERATION
We Are Fur is a website that represents the entire fur trade including but not limited to: furriers, fur farmers, auction houses, dressers and dyers, and designers. The International Fur Federation is a non-profit trade body that defends the fur trade mostly from the animal rights activists. Their outdated website was built with Drupal causing major disruption every time an edit was needed as no one could use the Content Management System (CMS). I had a daunting task of migrating several thousands of pages from Drupal into WordPress. It took several theme edits with incremental budget increases from board presentations. In the last main edit, I was granted £20k for a WordPress theme.
I worked on the completion of this project within a design and development team. We used development tools such as GIT, Bitbucket, Bash, SASS, and more. I made the pitch to make the site multilingual with approval for English, French, Italian, Russian, and Chinese. This meant coordinating with members of the IFF in all corresponding countries to register the TLDs, as well as configuring the server for multiple domains. WordPress Multilingual Plugin (WPML) connected the domains to the main site with the ability to translate the site in the backend either from personal text or hired translator. This really made for a great site.
